Own Your Cultural Narrative

Within each of us lies a powerful cultural narrative, the story we tell ourselves about our cultural identity. But is this narrative truly our own or has it been shaped by society?

In this transformative workshop, we invite participants to reflect deeply on the narratives they tell themselves about their cultural identity, using nature
and reflective mirror exercises.

Participants will uncover the layers of their cultural identity story; questioning its authenticity and societal influences. They will explore how they can reclaim ownership of this narrative, ensuring that they pave a path that honors their authentic selves.

EXERCISES INCLUDE:

At one with Nature: This exercise allows nature to inspire us to uncover the stories that shape who we are. Participants will be immersed in the beauty of nature as they select an object from nature that resonates with them. We will guide them to explore the object’s unique features as they reflect on what they can learn about themselves in relation to it.

Mirrors of Identity: Participants will step into this reflective exercise that harnesses the power of mirrors. During this empowering activity, they will be invited to look deeply into a mirror and observe their physical appearance as we celebrate that their reflection is the culmination of their culture(s), ancestors, and lived experiences.

Facilities: Seats and tables, mirrors, papers and pens, this workshop can either be conducted outdoors within nature or indoors - in which
case we will provide objects from nature.
